Neneekah is a member of the Hewisedawi Band of the Pit River Tribe. She was raised on the
XL Ranch Indian Reservation where her Father harvested meadow hay, raised Herford/Angus
cows, and Appaloosa horses.
Her interest in Natural resource management began at age 16 when she took a student intern
position at the Modoc National Forest. While there, she worked in a variety of disciplines
including archeology, fire/fire dispatch, soils, botany, hydrology and fisheries.
Neneekah attended Humboldt State University where she graduated with a bachelor’s in Native
American Studies, fisheries and hydrology.
