The Sierra Nevada Conservancy (SNC) was the recipient of a $400,000 grant from the California Natural Resources Agency (CNRA) to administer watershed coordinator grants within the watersheds that feed Trinity, Shasta, and Oroville reservoirs. These watersheds were identified in AB 2551 and are funded through the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund. AB 2551 added section 71365 to Public Resources Code which describes the need to develop and submit to the legislature a plan for forest and watershed restoration investments for the drainages that supply the Oroville, Shasta, and Trinity reservoirs. The watershed coordinators and a spatial analysis that is being funded in separate agreement will help achieve the goals described in AB 2551. This effort is a part of the Regional Forest and Fire Capacity Program (RFFCP).
